Tavis Minner

Tavis Minner (b. July 17, 1972) is an African-American award winning teacher and gospel/jazz singer.

Tavis was born in Wichita, Kansas and was raised in Spiro, Oklahoma. During his years in Spiro public schools, Tavis honed his musical abilities by playing the piano and singing in local churches and revivals throughout the city. He continued his education at Northeastern State University and was very active in the music department.

After graduation from college, Tavis began his teaching career at Sam Houston Elementary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Writing music especially for his music students, Tavis became well-known throughout the community and abroad.

In 2003, Tavis was nominated for a Tulsa World Spot Award for his musical work in the Tulsa, Oklahoma community And, March 2004, Tavis was recognized for his teaching abilities by being given the "Teacher of the Year Award" for Tulsa Public Schools.

Tavis Minner continues to be active in his community by singing in various churches and arenas in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
