Tender Prey is the fifth album by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, released in 1988 on Mute Records. It is often regarded by fans as one of the strongest records the band has ever released. Nick Cave was going through a harsh period of his life at the time of recording.

TenderPrey contains Cave's 'signature' tune "The Mercy Seat", which he has subsequently played at 99% of all his live performances since 1988, and was covered by Johnny Cash.
