Terling

Terling is a village in the county of Essex, United Kingdom, between the town Witham and the villages of Great Leighs and Hatfield Peverel. The village was mentioned in the Domesday book and, in 1991 had a population of 741. A church (C of E) and a single public house: The Raleigh Arms (Lord Raleigh being the title of the head of the Strutt family who live at Terling Place, the main house in the village). The village is comprised of two main areas, Terling and Gambles Green. The latter is a mixture of old properties and newer buildings.
Since 2002 it has been the location of the Terling International Trifle Competition, held each year in September.
In Terling, there are many things to occupy the lucky residents. These include a swimming pool (outdoors, open from Late May to Early Sept, a cricket pitch and a football pitch.Template:Essex-geo-stub
