The Sure Thing

From Free net encyclopedia

The Sure Thing is a 1985 romantic comedy directed by Rob Reiner and written by Stephen L. Bloom and Jonathan Roberts. It features John Cusack, Daphne Zuniga, Anthony Edwards, Tim Robbins, Viveca Linfors, Boyd Gaines, and Nicolette Sheridan.

This is a road trip movie featuring Walter 'Gib' Gibson, a perpetually horny college student in the Northeast and Alison Bradbury, a bookish and very organized student in Gib's English class who he has had his eye on. She takes an immediate disliking to his often boorish, fun-loving attitude. Gib has been unsuccessful lately with college women, so he accepts an invitation from his friend Lance in California over Christmas Break to meet a mysterious beauty who "loves sex". This string bikini-clad beauty is a "sure thing", meaning "No questions asked, no strings attached, no guilt involved." Allison is also going to Califonia, to see her fiancé. As fate would have it, they end up in the same car. Because of their constant bickering, they get kicked out of the car in the middle of nowhere. Still arguing, Alison hitches a ride from a shady driver, and Gib rescues her. Later, they discover that they have lost all their money and are seemingly unable to reach California. However, Alison finds out she has a credit card, and they make it to California after all. Gib pursues the Sure Thing, and Alison reunites with her boyfriend Jason.
