Theophilus

Various people have been known by the name Theophilus, which means "lover of God". These include:
- Theophilus (Biblical) is the name to which the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles is addressed.
- Theophilus of Antioch — (c.163–182), an early Christian patriarch.
- Theophilus, bishop of Caesarea (†195)
- Theophilus of Alexandria — (?–412) patriarch of Alexandria.
- Theophilus of Adana — (†c.538) bishop who made a pact with the devil.
- Theophilus (emperor) — (829–842) a Byzantine emperor of the second of the Phrygian dynasty.
- Theophilus Presbyter — (1070–1125) a Benedictine monk, metallurgist, and armourer. Thought to be a pseudonym of Roger of Helmarshausen
- Theophilus Gale — (1628–1678)
- Theophilus (comic strip) was a religious comic strip from 1966–2002.
- Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem — current patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem.
There is also a Theophilus crater on the Moon.
