Timo Tolkki

Timo Tolkki (born March 3 1966, in Klaukkala, Finland) is the guitarist, songwriter and producer of the Finnish power metal band Stratovarius.

Biography

Timo Tolkki joined the band Stratovarius in 1985. The former bands he played with were Antidote, Thunder and Road Block. At the beginning of his career with Stratovarius, he served as vocalist, but after the third album, he decided to hire a singer so he could concentrate on guitar. This singer's name was Timo Kotipelto who revolutionized the vocal side of the bands undertakings. Timo Tolkki released his first solo album in 1994, one of his long time dreams come true. The album is completely different to his work with Stratovarius, neoclassical metal influences coulouring the overall sound. In 2002 he released his second solo album, Hymn to Life, dealing with very personal issues from his relationship with God to his relationship with his late father.

In 2004, he opened his own studio named Goldenworks Mixing Suite.
