Truthsayer

Truthsayer is a fictional profession in the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. A truthsayer is a trained individual who is able to detect whether someone is lying by observing their body language. In the Dune universe, truthsayers are used widely in politics and trade.

Training
Truthsayers are almost always trained as Bene Gesserit first. As Bene Gesserit they learn how to use the Voice, detect inflection and change in others' voices, and interpret body language. They also learn from Suk doctors how to tell whether a person is lying through physical signs like pulse and heart rate.

Uses
Many important officials employ truthsayers. Truthsayers are most commonly used during:
- Interrogation and torture
- Business deals/agreements
- Court cases
- Hearings and testimonies

- Truthsayers are often Reverend Mothers.
- The Padishah Emperor has a truthsayer who accompanies him everywhere.
- Truthsayers can be wrong. When they are wrong, it is most often because they are facing other Bene Gesserit who are trained to disguise their feelings, thoughts, and emotions.
