Template:Infobox Estonian Political Party Res Publica Party (Estonian: Erakond Res Publica) is a conservative political party in Estonia. Established as a party 8 December 2001. Political organisation Res Publica was founded as early as 1989 and existed as a community of young conservatives during the 1990s. Member of EPP (European People's Party).
It is led by Taavi Veskimägi, former Minister of Finance. Previous chairman Juhan Parts was also Prime Minister (April 10 2003 until March 23 2005). Res Publica is the largest party in the State Council of Estonia, with 26 of 101 seats, currently holding opposition.
On April 4, 2006, representatives of the Pro Patria Union and the representatives of Res Publica decided to merge the two parties. Decision was made to form a new party, Eesti Eest (Pro Estonia), after approval by general assemblies of both merging political forces. This is about to take place no later than June, 2006.
