Upper Sandusky is a city located in Wyandot County, Ohio, along the Sandusky River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 6,533. It is the county seat of Wyandot CountyTemplate:GR.

Upper Sandusky is located at 40°49'47" North, 83°16'45" West (40.829608, -83.279102)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.7 km² (5.3 mi²). 13.6 km² (5.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.94% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 6,533 people, 2,744 households, and 1,682 families residing in the city. The population density was 481.4/km² (1,246.2/mi²). There were 2,910 housing units at an average density of 214.4/km² (555.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.15% White, 0.18% Black or African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.57% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.45% from other races, and 0.55% from two or more races. 2.71% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 2,744 households out of which 28.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.7% were married couples living together, 11.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.7% were non-families. 33.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.93.

In the city the population was spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 86.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $35,613, and the median income for a family was $45,236. Males had a median income of $29,829 versus $22,526 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,484. 4.7% of the population and 2.7% of families were below the poverty line. 4.5% of those under the age of 18 and 3.2% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.

Wack Pack

Upper Sandusky is home to the Wack Pack. A political party started by a few students at Upper Sandusky High School.It started out by taking over student council with only a few members and starting a notorious website. It has now grown to over 27,000 members and has started making its own clone army to take over the world.
