Vágar Airport

From Free net encyclopedia

Vágar Airport Template:Airport codes is the only airport in the Faroe Islands, a self-governing territory of Denmark consisting of a group of subarctic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean between Scotland and Iceland. It was built by British Royal Engineers during World War II. Due to the Faroe Islands' rather anomalous status, this airport is not fully subject to the rules of the European Union.

It is the main operating base for Faroese national airline Atlantic Airways. A comprehensive list of domestic destinations can be reached from Vágar, and international destinations include Copenhagen, Aalborg and Billund in Denmark, Reykjavík in Iceland, Aberdeen, London and Edinburgh in the United Kingdom, and Oslo, Stavanger and Stord in Norway.
