- VMD degrees are mostly out of fashion having been supplanted by the DVM degree (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine); the award was never in widespread use except for by several Ivy League schools; it is notably still bestowed by the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA.
