Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)
From Free net encyclopedia
Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) is the fourth release by the Iowa-based Slipknot and third official album.
Slipknot's latest retains a lot of the brutal vocals, fast guitar and drum work, and unorthodox subject matter that the band has become famous for, but introduces more melodic, pensive attributes, akin to the dramatic difference in sound that "Bother" (by vocalist Corey Taylor's side project Stone Sour) bore to some of Taylor's earlier work.
The band have said that Radiohead and Slayer were the main influences on the album. The album features several guitar solos, which were prohibited by the band's previous producer, Ross Robinson.
Incidentally, the album was recorded at producer Rick Rubin's allegedly haunted mansion, which the band suggest as some of the source for inspiration.
A special edition of the album, featuring a bonus disc with additional tracks, was released in 2005.
