The term "w00t" (IPA pronunciation: Template:IPA) is a slang interjection used to express happiness or excitement, often expressed via the Internet. The expression has been used in Usenet posts [1], multiplayer computer games (especially first-person shooters), the IRC and SILC chat protocols, instant messages, weblogs, and web forums. "WOOT!" was often found to be a popular celebratory term used to spam over chat channels in a game called EverQuest, when a group of players was successful in achieving their goal in the game.

"w00t" is sometimes used as an abbreviation for "we own other teams". In the video game Halo, originally made by Bungie Studios for the Xbox video game console, some characters would make a sound like "w00tw00tw00t" after killing someone.

Another meaning for "w00t" has been known to arise out of Dungeons and Dragons in recent years, in which is has the meaning "Woo! Loot!" typically exclaimed upon the discovery of a vast treasure pile, or a single item of particular importance.
