WikiProject Aircraft
Scope
This WikiProject aims primarily to suggest how aircraft-related articles can be put in to Wikipedia in an extensible and coherent manner.
Project Content
WikiProject Aircraft contains articles about:
- Categories of aircraft, eg airliner, interceptor aircraft, helicopter
- Aircraft types, eg. Airbus A300, F-15 Eagle
- Lists of aircraft types, eg List of aircraft, List of civil aircraft
- Individual famous aircraft, eg Spirit of St. Louis
- Aircraft technologies, eg aileron, jet engine
Articles on aircraft types form the bulk of the project and see the greatest activity. Newly contributed articles can be found listed at Wikipedia:New articles (Aircraft). Contributions older than the previous month can be found here.

Project status
At the end of 2005, a total of around 2,100 articles on aircraft types existed. The creation of new aircraft articles has slowed to an average of around 35 articles per month. For comparison, Jane's Encyclopedia of Aviation (ISBN 0517103168) claims to have "over 5,000 entries".
