Taillow (スバメ Subame in Japanese, Schwalbiniin German and Nirondelle in French) is a basic, Flying-type Pokémon common in the pokémon region of Hoenn from Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald. It is similar to Pidgey, found in Kanto, in this respect.
The name Taillow is a combination of the words tail, referring to its forked tail, and swallow.

Biology
Taillow looks like a Swallow or a Swift with streamlined shape and light body to aid in ease of flight. The top half of its chest is red and the bottom half is white. It also has a long tail to help with balance.
Taillows will courageously stand their ground againts foes, taking on a Skarmory with an equal footing. This gutsy Pokémon will remain defiant even after a loss. This however is in stark contrast to when it becomes hungry and it cries loudly.
As a result of its relative youth, it sometimes becomes lonely and cries at night. They feed on Wurmple that live in forests. It is a migratory bird that dislikes cold seasons. It migrates to other lands in search of warmth, flying over 180 miles a day on some occasions.
In the anime
In the Pokémon Anime, Ash Ketchum has a Taillow that he caught in Petalburg Woods. It was the leader of a flock of Taillow that attacked them to steal their food.
Ashs friend Richie also has a Taillow named Rose
In the episode "That's Just Swellow", Ash's Taillow evolves into Swellow.
In the video games
Taillow is a common, basic Pokémon found in the Petalburg Woods and routes 104, 115 and 116 in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.
Other than Taillow's exceedingly high speed, the pokemon is a rather weak Pokémon. Taillow's defense and special attack/defense are abysmal. This does not change when he evolves, although its attack improves vastly as do its hit points.
Like all Flying Pokémon, it is strong against Bug and Grass types but weak against Rock, Electric and Ice types. Because it is a Normal Pokémon, its Normal-type attacks do no damage to Ghost types, and no Ghost-type attacks can harm it.
