Glyndwr was a Welsh district between 1974 and 1996.
It was formed on April 1, 1974, and succeeded the boroughs of Denbigh and Ruthin, along with Llangollen urban district, Ceirog Rural District, Ruthin Urban District and Edeyrnion Rural District. It also took part of Wrexham Rural District.
Most of the district was traditionally in Denbighshire, with the Edeyrnion part coming from Merionethshire. The district was named after Owain Glyndŵr, who lived in Glyndyfrdwy for a while.
On April 1, 1996 the district was split, to form parts of the three new principal areas of Denbighshire, Powys and Wrexham. Image:Glyndwrarms.PNG Template:Wales-geo-stub
