Jeremiah Clemens (December 28 1814 – May 21 1865) was a U.S. senator from the state of Alabama. He was elected to fill the vacancy left by the death of Dixon Hall Lewis, and served from November 30 1849 to March 3 1853. He also wrote the first American Civil War novel and the first western novel.
