Template:US County infobox Coconino County is located in the north central part of the U.S. state of Arizona. As of 2000 its population was 116,320. The county seat is Flagstaff. It is the second largest county by land area in the 48 continguous United States, behind San Bernardino County, California.
Coconino County contains Grand Canyon National Park, the Havasupai Nation, and parts of the Navajo Nation, Hualapai Nation, and Hopi Nation. It takes its name from Cosnino, a name applied to the Havasupai.
Coconino County was the setting for George Herriman's early 20th century Krazy Kat comic strip.
Coconino County has a relatively large Native American population at nearly 30% of the county's total population, being mostly Navajo with smaller numbers of Havasupai, Hopi, and others.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 48,332 km² (18,661 mi²). 48,219 km² (18,617 mi²) of it is land and 113 km² (44 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.23% water. It is therefore physically larger than Denmark, which has a population of 5.3 million people, and has more land area than four U.S. states.

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 116,320 people, 40,448 households, and 26,938 families residing in the county. The population density was 2/km² (6/mi²). There were 53,443 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (3/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 63.09% White, 28.51% Native American, 1.04% Black or African American, 0.78% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 4.13% from other races, and 2.36% from two or more races. 10.94% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 40,448 households out of which 34.90% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.70% were married couples living together, 12.20% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.40% were non-families. 22.10% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.36.
In the county the population was spread out with 28.70% under the age of 18, 14.40% from 18 to 24, 29.20% from 25 to 44, 20.70% from 45 to 64, and 7.00% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 99.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.20 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $38,256, and the median income for a family was $45,873. Males had a median income of $32,226 versus $25,055 for females. The per capita income for the county was $17,139. 18.20% of the population and 13.10% of families were below the poverty line. 22.30% of those under the age of 18 and 13.30% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
