Sool

Sool is a region (gobolka) in northern Somalia, and was part of the British Somaliland Protectorate. Its capital is Laascaanood. It is bordered by Ethiopia and the Somali regions of Togdheer, Sanaag, Bari and Nugaal.

Sool is claimed by the two self-proclaimed, but internationally unrecognized, states of Somaliland and Puntland. Along with Sanaag, Sool has been a source of dispute between Somaliland and Puntland. Sool is the only region in Somalia the civil war did not affect substantially Sool is also where The last Somalian-wild Ass lives
