Image:Sinbad.jpg Sinbad (born David Adkins on November 10, 1956) is an American actor and stand-up comedian.

Sinbad was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Rev. Dr. Donald and Louise Adkins. He attended college between 1974 and 1978 at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado . Under the professional name Sinbad, he began his career in the 1980s, appearing on Star Search and The Redd Foxx Show.

At one time, Sinbad hosted his own talk show, VIBE. He is well known for portraying the aloof coach Walter Oakes on A Different World (a spinoff of The Cosby Show). He was also featured in an infomercial for Tae Bo. In 2005, Sinbad became the temporary host of Showtime at the Apollo, while regular host Mo'Nique was on maternity leave. This was his second tenure hosting the show.

He is number 78 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 greatest standups of all time.
