MovementWriting

MovementWriting or the International Movement-Writing Alphabet is a movement notation system devised by Valerie Sutton. MovementWriting uses a large lexis of figurative and abstract symbols and has five sub sections:

• DanceWriting: a form of Dance notation and DanceWriting Shorthand: a subset of DanceWriting.
• SignWriting: a sign language notation.
• MimeWriting: Mime notation.
• SportsWriting: Gymnastics, Ice skating, Karate (etc) notation.
• ScienceWriting: physical therapy, body language, animal movements (etc) notation.

DanceWriting and SignWriting are the most used of the five sub sections and were both invented in 1974.
