• Lovell House in Los Angeles, designed by Richard Neutra.
• Nobel House, the (then) new headquarters of ICI and currently occupied by MI5, on Millbank, Westminster, London, designed by Frank Baines, is completed.
• Paimio Sanatorium in Finland, designed by Alvar Aalto is completed.
• Work begins on the Rockefeller Center in New York
• The Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Ontario is completed and becomes the tallest building in the British Empire
