Biography

Abhishek is the son of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan (BBC Actor of the Millennium) and renowned actress Jaya Bachchan. His sister is Delhi-based Shweta Bachchan-Nanda.

Although he made a strong debut in J.P. Dutta's Refugee alongwith Kareena Kapoor in 2000, the movie was not considered a success. In a span of four years, Bachchan went on to do many more movies, without any major box-office successes. However, with his performance in Mani Ratnam's Yuva, he proved his mettle as an actor [1]. His performance earned him the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award and every other supporting actor award at the major film award functions. [2],[3], [4]

Yash Raj Films's Dhoom, starring Bachchan, alongside John Abraham, Uday Chopra, Rimi Sen and Esha Deol was a hit in 2004. In 2005 he shot to fame with four consecutive hits, viz. Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar, Dus and Bluffmaster.

Next, Bachchan is set to star in a Karan Johar directed movie, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Preity Zinta called Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna [5] and in Dhoom 2, the sequel of Dhoom.

Recently, much media attention has focused on Bachchan's alleged romantic involvement with fellow Bollywood celebrity and Miss World 1994, Aishwarya Rai with whom his upcoming movie is JP Dutta's Umrao Jaan. [6]
