Albertslund

Albertslund is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Copenhagen County on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 23 km², and has a total population of 28,146 (2005). Its mayor is Finn Aaberg, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The Social Democrats currently has an absolute majority in the city council, with 11 out of a total of 21 seats.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Albertslund.
Neighboring municipalities are Glostrup to the east, Ballerup and Ledøje-Smørum to the north, Høje-Taastrup to the west, and Vallensbæk and Brøndby to the south.
Albertslund municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
