- In grammar: a grammatical particle used to indicate definiteness and in some languages number and case. See Article (grammar).
- In publishing, an article is a piece of nonfictional prose that is an independent part of a publication (such as a book, journal, magazine, or newspaper). This sense of article overlaps with the usage of the word essay.
