Banky Edwards

Image:BankyEd.jpg Banky Edwards is a character played by Jason Lee in the movie Chasing Amy by Kevin Smith. He is the best friend and partner of Holden McNeil and works as an inker (not a tracer, as he is often anxious to point out) for the comic book Bluntman and Chronic.
Throughout Chasing Amy, Banky is the main source of conflict, disapproving of Holden's romance with Alyssa Jones, a fellow comic artist and a lesbian. He hates the budding friendship they shared because he felt Holden was ignoring their friendship and work. When Holden and Alyssa start dating, he is shocked but reluctantly accepts it until he finds information on her past, thus causing Holden to confront Alyssa in a rather irrational way.
Hooper X and later Holden suggests that Banky really wants to break up the couple because he's in love with Holden and jealous of Alyssa. Though not explicitly stated at any point, it would seem that Banky may indeed have homosexual tendencies; when Holden tries to fix the rift between the three by suggesting they have a ménage à trois, Banky reluctantly agrees, even though he's relieved when Alyssa refuses. When he leaves Holden after Alyssa leaves him one can suggest Banky's hostility was merely due to Holden's inability to balance a relationship, friendship, and work thus creating the problem.
Banky plays a significant role in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, in which the two title characters are out to stop a movie being made about them. Initially, they sought only to collect their paycheck, but after tracking down Holden and finding out the nature of the Internet, the pair quickly journey to Hollywood and find Banky. He objects flatly to their demand to stop the movie, and when Bob threatens to sue him, he makes a compromise and offers half of his paycheck to settle the debacle, which they accept. <p>Banky also makes a brief appearance at the end of Strike Back, where most people believe it is confirmed that he is indeed gay, though Kevin Smith meant this as a joke. Banky also briefly appears in Clerks: The Comic Book outside of the mall holding a copy of Bluntman and Chronic. Template:Kevin Smith
