- In accounting, booking may refer to double-entry book-keeping.
- Booking is the process by which a criminal justice system creates an administrative record of those arrested. This usually involves taking photographs (mugshots) of the suspect, recording physical data, detailing charges against the suspect, and taking fingerprints.
- In the entertainment world, booking is the process of matching musicians or other performing artists with performance opportunities. A talent agency represents performing artists and is sometimes called a "booking agency".
- Booking is another term for a reservation, in the travel and hospitality industry, including airlines, railroads, hotels, and restaurants.
- Booking is the laying out of the plot before a professional wrestling match.
- A Booking is also another name for a caution in association football and several other sports. It is often indicated with a yellow card.
