Faber. It is free software available under the GNU GPL. CDex is able to convert CD audio into several formats including WAV, MP3 (using the LAME encoder), Ogg Vorbis, VQF, APE, and many others. It supports FLAC [1] and other codecs using an external encoder.

Development

In January 2006, the CDex homepage requested a new project manager and developer, implying that Albert L. Faber has abandoned developing CDex.

CDex's SourceForge project page [2] indicates that the last 'official' update to CDex (version 1.51) was published on 2003-09-14, while some forum posts indicate that there's an 'unofficial' update (version 1.60++) available at the RareWares Audio website's 'others' section [3]. This unofficial update was done by Tycho.

As of March 2006, the CDex homepage states that CDex development has been restarted by Narendra Gaur and Georgy Berdyshev.
