Doris

Doris can mean several things:
- In Greek mythology, Doris ("bountiful") was an Oceanid, daughter of Oceanus and Tethys. She was married to Nereus and their fifty daughters were called the Nereids.
- In geography and history, Doris was the region in central Greece in which the Dorians had their traditional homeland.
- In naval history, Doris was a French coastal submarine of the Sirène class. At 00.14 hours on 9 May 1940, the Doris (CdC Favreul) was torpedoed and sunk North West off the Dutch Coast, 30 miles from Den Helder, by the German submarine U-9.
- Doris is also microbrowser product developed by a small Finland-based company, Anygraaf, for Symbian operating system.
- Finally, in British rhyming slang, Doris is a mild insult on a par with 'pansy' (from Doris Day meaning gay).
