HMS Conway

From Free net encyclopedia

Several ships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Conway after the town of Conwy in Wales, formerly known by its English name of Conway.

The most famous Conway was school ship HMS Conway established in 1859. She occupied several ships, all called Conway until 1953 when her last floating home ran aground and broke her back. The wreck burned to the waterline in 1956; the school continued on dry land as a "stone frigate" until 1974.
