Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword (Japanese: ファイアーエムブレム 烈火の剣 Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken) is a Japanese tactical role-playing game for the Game Boy Advance developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. It is the seventh game of the Fire Emblem series and the first to be released in both North America and Europe (where it was marketed under the title Fire Emblem). It is the prequel to Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi (ファイアーエムブレム 封印の剣, or Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals), taking place five years before Roy was born, and set twenty years before Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi.

Note that while "Blazing Sword" is the official translated sub-title of the game used by Nintendo (in the official website when describing the history of the game, for example), it doesn't actually appear in the North American and European versions of the games themselves. The subtitle is used here to disambiguate the game from the Fire Emblem series itself.

Prelude

"Once, dragons and men coexisted.
They shared a peace forged in wisdom.

All that was lost when mankind disrupted this balance in a sudden onslaught.

Man fought dragon in a savage war,

that shook the foundations of their world.

Defeated and humbled, dragons vanished from the realm.
In time, man rebuilt and spread his dominion across the land and the islands beyond.

A millennium has passed since those dark days ended."

Lyn's Tale (Prologue - 10)

Image:GBA Fire Emblem Overview.png

The game's narrative starts in the plains of Sacae. The player character, a tactician whose default name is Mark, is found lying unconscious by a girl named Lyndis (more commonly known as Lyn). After a short series of events, Mark and Lyn meet the Cavaliers Kent and Sain, who reveal that Lyn is the daughter of Hassar and Marquess Caelin's daughter, Madelyn--making her heir to the throne of Caelin. However, Lyn's existence is an obstacle to Lundgren, who desires to succeed his brother Hausen as the marquess, and Lundgren will stop at nothing to make sure that Lyn falls victim to an untimely demise. So begins Lyn's quest to claim her rightful position as heir to the Caelin throne. Before setting out for Caelin, Lyn, Kent and Sain visit a temple in order to pray before the Mani Katti, a sacred blade. The temple is under attack by a group of bandits led by Glass, who desires to steal the Mani Katti. However, the sword contains spirits that will only allow one of pure heart to wield it. After defeating the bandits and rescuing the priest, Lyn discovers that she is the chosen wielder of the Mani Katti.

Lyn travels from the plains of Sacae to Lundgren's stronghold in a series of 10 chapters. Over time, Lyn meets a variety of companions including the frail-yet-potent Pegasus Knight Florina, the social Archer Wil, the devoted Fighter Dorcas, the uptight Mage Erk, the feisty Cleric Serra, the happy-go-lucky Thief Matthew, the quiet Nomad Rath, the mysterious Bard Nils, the pious Monk Lucius, and the former Caelin Knight Wallace. After the conclusion of this story, the player will proceed from the beginning of either Eliwood or Hector's Tale.

When playing the game for the first time, Lyn's Tale will serve as a tutorial and many actions will be mandatory. After completing the game once, Hard Mode will be selectable. In Hard Mode, the player is given the freedom to play as he or she would at any other point. That is, no moves will be forced in the beginning and Wallace can stay unpromoted.

Eliwood's Tale (11- Final Chapter)

Template:Copyedit This section is a bit long and cumbersome; division could be desirable; condense it.

Before Meeting Athos

Eliwood's story starts a year after Lyn defeated Lundgren.

Eliwood is leaving Pherae to go in search of his missing father, Elbert. As he and his escorts prepare to leave the area, a local village is attacked by bandits led by Groznyi who want to take advantage of Elbert's absence. At that time, you, the tactician, are at the village, and Eliwood acquires your help in order to take down the bandits.

After defeating the bandits, Eliwood heads to Santaruz, which he believes his father likely passed through on his journey. On the outskirts of Santaruz, Eliwood's group is accosted by some bandits hired to kill Eliwood, but Eliwood's friend Hector, the brother of the marquess of Ostia, comes to the rescue. The Santaruz soldiers, however, seem more content to watch the fight, instead of helping Pherae's heir. Closer to Santaruz, they are then attacked by members of the Black Fang. Eventually getting to Santaruz Castle, Eliwood is anxious to ask Santaruz's Lord Helman as to why these attacks are happening. To their shock, Eliwood's group finds him clinging to life, having been stabbed by an assassin. With his dying words, Lord Helman tells them to find Darin, Marquess of Laus, saying that "he knows all." Helman then advises them to "beware the Black Fang," and with that, he perishes.

Eliwood then journeys to Laus, which is preparing a rebellion against Ostia. In a large battle, Eliwood and his group capture Darin's son Erik, however, Darin flees the castle during the battle. After the rebellion is quelled, Erik provides Eliwood with answers to some of his questions. It seems that Eliwood's father, Marquess Pherae, was one of the lords that supported Darin's rebellion. A mysterious man named Ephidel introduced the whole idea of rebellion in the first place, according to Erik. Eliwood doesn't believe that his father could have supported such a plan, and continues to search for Darin.

A couple of days later, Eliwood is informed that Castle Caelin has fallen to an attack from the remains of Laus's army, so Eliwood, fearing that his friend Lyn (who he helped during her story) might have been killed. To save Lyn, Eliwood rushes to the castle's rescue. His small army meets up with Lyn and four of her allies, and they decide to work together to capture the castle. After a long battle to get the castle under Caelin control, peace is restored to the area... but Darin and Ephidel escape again.

Eliwood and Hector come upon the Ostian spy Leila, who is working undercover in the Black Fang and is Matthew's best friend and fellow spy in service to Lord Uther. She informs them that the Black Fang is responsible for all that has happened. Although the Black Fang used to be an organization with mostly noble intentions, it is being used now by Nergal, a mysterious man who wants to start war in Lycia for unknown reasons. They also find out that Elbert is being held captive at the Dragon's Gate, a place on Valor island, also known as the 'Dread Isle', because all those who set sail for the island never returned.

Lyn, Hector, and Eliwood set sail to the island with the help of the pirate captain Fargus (though Lyn isn't happy about asking a bunch of pirates for help, as she hates bandits, no matter what kind they are.) Along the way, they find Nils's sister Ninian in a small drifting boat. She unfortunately has amnesia, and has no idea where she is, why she was there, or even who she is. Nils isn't with her, which Lyn finds highly suspicious. Eliwood and company reach the island, but along the way to the Dragon's Gate, the group runs into Leila, but she is already dead. Jaffar, one of the Four Fangs of the Black Fang, killed her after her disguise was revealed. Matthew vows to avenge her in any way he can as the group plunges into the fog surrounding the entrance to the island.

After finding the Dragon's Gate, a huge place that the Dragons created during the Scouring. Ephidel then teleports in and takes Ninian, so they assualt the temple to rescue her. Here they face off against Darin, and he is finally slain. Eliwood finds his father near the back of the temple, but before they can take him out, Jaffar appears and stops them from leaving. Then Nergal and Ephidel come in with the captured Ninian. Nergal absorbs Elbert's soul, and feeds it into Ninian, forcing her to open the Gate. This will allow Dragons to cross over from their new world, back to this one. As Nergal believes he can control Dragons, he believes he will be able to take over the world with them, taking their life-force, known as quintessence, to make himself stronger.

But as a Dragon is starting to emerge from out of the portal, Nils comes in and brings Ninian to her senses. She immediately closes the portal, causing the dragon, halfway through the portal, to disintegrate...taking Ephidel down with it. Nergal attempts to take Ninian and Nils, but the nearly-dead Elbert manages to find enough strength to deal him a great wound, at which point he flees to recover. Elbert then dies in his son's arms.

Eliwood and company head back to the mainland to inform Marquess Uther, Hector's older brother and Marquess of Ostia, of what has been happening. On the way, they are ambushed in Badon by a group of Black Fang, but they prevail. As they prepare to meet Uther in a fortress on the outskirts of Ostia, they are attacked by a group of mercenaries. To make matters worse, Nils collapses, having given too much of his energy to Ninian previously. Ninian tells them not to move him at all, and thus they find themselves having to defend Nils until Uther arrives. Through the help of a defecting mercenary named Heath, Eliwood and company learn that the attacking group, lead by Commander Eubans, used to work for Laus. Eubans's forces hoped to join the Black Fang if they succeed in killing Eliwood, as Laus is now defunct, but they fail and flee when Eubans falls.

After Meeting Athos

Uther is troubled by the news of dragons, and suggests Eliwood go to the Nabata desert to meet a person he will only refer to as the 'living legend'. This legend turns out to be Archsage Athos, one of the veterans of the Scouring, whose lifespan has been drastically lengthened because of his deep connection to magic. After Eliwood assists a mysterious Sage in the desert named Pent, who turns out to be Athos's student, Erk's mentor, and the count of Reglay, leads them back to a nearby temple. Athos tells them that they will need to find the Shrine of Seals in Bern if they want to stand a chance against Nergal.

After Athos teleports the group back to Pherae, Eliwood reunites with his mother, Lady Eleanora, but she already knows of her husband Elbert's death, as she sent her vassal Isadora to Eliwood's aid when he fought Oleg in Badon. After staying the night, the group sets out in disguise as travelers toward Bern.

When they reach Bern, they hear of Prince Zephiel's coming-of-age ceremony, during which Pent and his wife, the beautiful sniper Louise, hatch a plan to ask Queen Hellene of Bern about the location of the Shrine of Seals. While waiting, Legault, a Thief who left the Black Fang and joined Eliwood's group at the Dragon's Gate, suggests that they try to gather more information on the Black Fang. Halfway through their search, they are attacked by one of the Reed Brothers (depending on the power level of the lords, the brother can be either the swordmaster Lloyd or the hero Linus). After subduing him, they persuade him that they're not his enemy, at which point he decides to track Sonia, the woman Nergal is using to control the Black Fang, and discover her intentions. However, Nergal's other underling Limstella shows up and kills him by absorbing his quintessence in order to heal Nergal's wound. The other Reed brother, showing up later and finding his brother dead, blames Eliwood and friends.

Queen Hellene, who is Louise's cousin, will provide Eliwood with the location of the Shrine of Seals if he recovers the Fire Emblem for her, which was 'stolen' by an expert thief. The Fire Emblem is the symbol of Bern, and it is required for her son to be officially identified as the heir to Bern's throne. It turns out that King Desmond gave it to the Black Fang so that his son wouldn't become heir. Not only that, but King Desmond wants his son dead and has struck a pact with Sonia to carry this wish out.

Lyn manages to trace the Black Fang to their mountain fortress, where they hear that Jaffar was to carry out a contract to kill Zephiel. In secret, Sonia tells Jaffar to also kill her daughter Nino, who she sees as worthless and stupid, much to Jaffar's shock since Nino managed to save his life few hours ago. Eliwood returns to the Bern Manse and saves prince Zephiel from a Black Fang assassination, meeting the Mage Nino and the Assassin Jaffar along the way; Nino persuades Jaffar of not killing Zephiel, he later helps her and Eliwood's group to fend off a sudden attack from Bern forces, and they join Eliwood's group. Hellene then gives them a map to the Shrine of Seals and a Heaven Seal after learning about the night before.

They stop by at the Black Fang's secondary base, the Water Temple, after following Nino and Jaffar there. Sonia kills Brendan, and Limstella absorbs his quintessence for Nergal. Having being told by Jaffar and Eliwood of Sonia's true intetion and the upcoming fall of Black Fang, Nino confronts Sonia about her parentage, and Sonia reveals that Nino is indeed not really her daughter, but the daughter of a noble clan of magic users that her and Nergal killed to gain knowledge about Dragons. Eliwood shows up and saves Nino, and finally Sonia is defeated. Limstella shows up, but doesn't absorb Sonia's quintessence because she doesn't have any as she was a morph all along, and leaves her there. Nergal sees Sonia's injury and kills her.

Eliwood makes it to the Shrine of Seals, where he is attacked by the remaining Reed brother. No one can convince him that it wasn't Eliwood's group who killed his brother, so regrettably he has to be killed, and they also are aided by the Bern Wyvern Lord Vaida as her way to pay them for saving Zephiel. Athos teleports in and takes them into the Shrine to talk to the other remaining legend, the cautious magic user Brammimond. After a conversation with Athos, Brammimond is persuaded to open the seals on the legendary weapons.

Outside the Shrine, a fully healed Nergal shows up and tries to take Ninian and Nils. To defend her brother and gain time, Ninian makes a deal with the Arch Sage; she then entrusts Nils to Eliwood's care and goes with Nergal willingly. Athos attempts to kill him, but Nergal has become resistant to Athos's Forblaze. He then leaves with Ninian, telling them there's nothing they can do to stop him.

Eliwood goes and collects the Blazing Blade, Durandal, from its resting place. Then he is attacked by an Ice Dragon, and Durandal, seemingly activated on its own, slays the Dragon. It turns out that the Ice Dragon was Ninian, whom Nergal had secretly allowed to escape to track Eliwood. Nergal comes to gloat at them, telling Eliwood about how Ninian lost most of her memory when she changed back into Ice Dragon to escape, and that the only thing remaining was her love towards Eliwood. All the while, he's secretly absorbing Ninian's quintessence while Eliwood and friends are too distraught to notice. Ninian uses her last bits of quintessence to change back to her human form and dies in Eliwood's arms.

Back in Ostia, as Eliwood and friends recuperate, Athos tells them about Nergal's past; Athos encountered Nergal in the desert as a wandering seeker of wisdom. Athos and Nergal were equal in intelligence and soon became fast friends. Soon after, Athos and Nergal came across the legendary city of Arcadia, a city where humans and dragons lived in peace. While Athos studied powerful arcane secrets at Arcadia, Nergal spent his time learning the secrets of acquiring quintessence. This knowledge slowly distorted his soul, until Nergal became the vile fiend that he is now. Athos and the residents of Arcadia, which included the Mamkute Fae, teamed up to defeat Nergal, but he managed to escape at the last second and fled to Bern to regain his strength, taking control of the Black Fang while he was there.

Nergal, back at the Dragon's Gate, feeds Ninian's quintessence into her Dragonstone, and uses it to open the portal. But he feels he doesn't have enough quintessence in order to be able to control dragons. That doesn't matter; Eliwood arrives at the island. He sends Limstella out to deal with him, but it seems Limstella isn't as capable as he may have hoped: her body is so full of quintessence that it's corrupted, and she's finally defeated.

Nergal channels quintessence from the most powerful Black Fang human leders: the Nomad Trooper Uhai, the Valkyrie Ursula, Lord Darin, Brendan, the brothers Lloyd and Linus, the assassin Jerme and the bishop Kenneth, whom were only a few of the people Limstella and he had absorbed, and creates supercharged morph versions of them, and waits for Eliwood to die against them.

Nergal tells Athos that he now hates him, and that he has learned that you can't trust your friends, because they will stab you in the back. Eliwood retorts by calling Nergal a fool. He then says that even as Athos struck him down, he didn't feel nothing; his heart was ripped in two, and Nergal is refusing to realize this. He then tells Nergal that even now, he feels nothing but pity for him, and will end this right now, in hopes of bringing back the man Nergal used to be. Nergal then sends his morphs out to destroy Eliwood, but unfortunately for him, Eliwood is more powerful than he had hoped, and they all fall, their souls being freed as they go down and are released. Then Nergal himself comes out to try and destroy them, but he finally dies.

But first, he summons Dragons. Three Fire Dragons emerge from the Dragon's Gate. Athos attempts to stop them, but he can't get anywhere near them. At this point Brammimond shows up and resurrects Ninian, who uses her ice powers to kill two and severely wound the third. Eliwood and friends take the fight to the last Dragon, and manages to slay it.

The battle is finally won, but Archsage Athos, who joins Eliwood's team in the final chapter, collapses from exhaustion. Taking Fargus's ship back to Lycia, Eliwood is crowned Marquess of Pherae in his father's place, and soon Hector is crowned as Maruqess of Ostia after Uther dies of consumption. Lyn entrusts Caelin to Ostia and goes back to her natal Sacae.

Hector's Story

Hector's tale is almost the same as Eliwood's, but with a few changes. First, the viewpoint has changed from Eliwood to Hector, meaning Hector is the main character. The characters Uther (hector's older brother, Marquess of Ostia and leader of the Lycian League), Matthew (spy of Ostia) and Oswin (a Knight/General and Hector's bodyguard) play larger roles as well. Several story elements and cut scenes are changed. Other changes include different troops and troop placement in the chapters. Because Hector's tale is unlocked after beating Eliwood's tale, Hector's tale is more difficult than Eliwood's. Also included in Hector's story are two characters not found in Eliwood's mode: Farina, the third of the pegasus knight sisters (along with Fiora and Florina), and Karla the Princess of Swords, sister to the swordmaster Karel and future wife of the fighter/warrior Bartre.

Lords

Template:Seealso And Template:Seealso

Born in the Sacean Plains, her parents (Hassar and Madelyn) were killed by bandits. She lived alone in her house until she finds a tactician (the player) lying on the ground. She then must be assisted by the player on her quest. She was the first female character of the Lord class in the series, but not the first female character to be a main character of a game.
Lyn's abilities generally focus around speed and accuracy. Though she is not as strong as the other two lords, she is still capable of dealing high amounts of damage. Her durability is somewhat weak, but her ability to dodge oncoming attacks more than makes up for this. She also has an excellent ability to deal critical hits.
Lyndis decides that nothing will change if she does not leave her home, so she goes in search of her maternal grandfather Lord Hausen, the Marquess of Caelin, who she hopes will take her in. The player's job is to help her through her storyline by directing Lyn and the friends she makes (such as the cavaliers Sain and Kent) in battle. The player has his/her own game sprite, but it is only seen during story scenes and does not appear during the actual fighting at all.
After several battles and new allies (all of which will join you automatically), you have to defeat a level in which you save the old priest of a certain shrine. In gratitude, he allows Lyndis to try to draw the sword Mani Katti, which is protected by spirts and housed in the shrine. As it turns out, she is the only one who can draw the legendary sword. Since she can draw and, apparently, wield the sword, the priest tells her to take it with her.
Several battles and snippets of storyline later, she finds out that her grandfather is dying. At first it seems that he is dying a natural death, but then she finds out he is being poisoned by another Marquess, Lyn's great-uncle Lundgren. He is set on replacing Lyn's grandfather as Marquess Caelin, and will go to any length, including telling him that Lyn is dead, and that he has no reason to live. Obviously, you fight a battle against him, and when he is killed, Lyn rushes to her grandfather. After a talk with Lyn, her grandfather recovers, Lyn stays with him at Castle Caelin, and you leave. Afterwards, she walks around on a journey with her grandfather.
A swordsman on a quest to find his father, Elbert, who had been kidnapped by the Dark Druid Nergal. Eliwood battles with a group of assassins called the Black Fang, morphs, and lastly a Fire Dragon to reach his destination. He is equipped with a rapier, and later, the Durandal, which he uses to battle Nergal. He is Roy's father. Eliwood also appears in Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals, but only through a very short period into the game.
Eliwood's mother is Eleanora, who is guarded by Isadora, and his son is Roy, who first appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee, then the sixth Fire Emblem game, which was made before Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, the aforementioned Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi.
Eliwood's statistics are average all-around, but his luck is higher than the rest. Often, he tends to be somewhat lopsided, or weak in his statistics, having no real specialties (or weaknesses). Because his statistical growths are often average, he tends to lack in certain areas at some times, while in other areas at another. Nevertheless, he has a great amount of potential in just about every category because of his erratic stats, and is a solid unit.
A handsome young lord who is a good friend of Eliwood. He helps Eliwood with his quest to find his father. His parents died of natural causes and his older brother, Uther, is the current lord of Ostia. It is also revealed in Fuuin no Tsurugi that he has a half-brother. Equipped with an axe, this bold, reckless and valiant axefighter sets out on an adventure to help his friend in search of his father Elbert, along with a few Ostian colleagues, and the beloved princess of Caelin Lyndis. Behind the scenes, however, there is terrible news concerning his brother Uther.
Hector eventually acquires the legendary axe Armads (Almace), used by the legendary Durban who also refers to himself by his axe's name. Hector also appears in Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals, but eventually dies from battle wounds. However, his daughter Lilina is one of the characters in the game.
Hector's forte lies in physical strength and durability. As an axe fighter, he is able to deal heavy amounts of damage, and his defense rating makes him able to take an immense amount of punishment. Surprisingly, he is also quite fast for an armoured unit, but he tends to have accuracy problems. He is also not as lucky as the other two lords, but this is often insignificant due to his toughness. He can be vulnerable to magical attack, however.

Major Enemies

  • Nergal
Nergal, the main villain, is the only character whose class is Dark Druid (an evil mage who can use any magic power, be it light, dark, anima or staff), he is described as 'an Avaricious fiend who turns death into power'. Nergal is hundreds of years old (he is likely well over 500 years old), and once was once a friend of the Archsage Athos (one of the eight legends who defeated the dragons during the Scouring which took place 1000 years ago). However, on a journey with Athos, he found the city of Arcadia, where Dragons and Humans lived in perfect harmony, and their views began to differ. Athos wanted to take the knowledge of Arcadia and give it to the world, whereas Nergal wanted to use the power of dragons. Nergal found the power to drain "quintessence" or the living essence, right out of living things. Although Athos pleaded with him to stop, Nergal refused to listen. Eventually Nergal and Athos fought, leaving him with a wound on his right eye (presumably, Nergal's right eye is blind).
After Nergal left Arcadia, he began creating henchmen that he called 'morphs'. The morphs are almost exactly like humans, except that they are more intelligent and lack normal human emotions. Physically the morphs have jet-black hair, blood-red lips, and golden eyes (Limstella, Sonia, and Ephidel are examples of these morphs). Along with the morphs, Nergal also took control of a group of assassins in Bern known as the Black Fang. Using the Black Fang Nergal tried to start a civil war in Lycia by convincing Darin, the Marquess of Laus, into rebelling against Ostia, the governing provence of Lycia. The whole point of this was to be able to harvest enough Quintessence in order to call Dragons from the Dragon's Gate.
Nergal, calling out to those on the other side, brought Ninian and Nils into our world and imprisoned them in order to open the Dragon's gate. They were forced to take human form to survive, and fled Nergal, who later recaptured them. He then forced Ninian to reopen the Gate, and summon a Fire Dragon. However, Nils appears and snaps Ninian out of her trance, and the dragon crumbles, killing Ephidel. After Ninian is killed by Eliwood's Durandal, Nergal uses her Quintessence to open the Dragon's Gate (only dragons have the ability to open the gate). Nergal eventually is defeated, but before he dies, he uses his own Quintessence to call three Fire Dragons through the Dragon's Gate.
If you play through Hector's story mode and unlock chapter 19xx, you will discover that Nergal, is in all likelihood, Ninian and Nils' father. Additionally, if chapters 19xx, 23x, and 32x are defeated in one playthrough, there will be evidence in a secret ending that further supports this.

The Four Fangs

  • Description The Four Fangs are the four strongest members of the Black Fang, which was created by Brendan Reed.
  • Lloyd Reed
Lloyd's nickname is the White Wolf, he is the older of Brendan's two sons and a competant swordsman. He is a Swordmaster class, and depending on the power of your lords, you will either fight him early in Chapter 23 (Eliwood's story)/Chapter 24 (Hector's story) in Four-Fanged Offensive, or in Chapter 27 (Eliwood's Story)/Chapter 29 (Hector's story) in Cog of Destiny.
Lloyd, unlike his younger brother, is calm and composed, willing to take any order that his father gives and in his own words "The brothers Reed dispense the Fang's justice"
  • Linus Reed
Linus has been referred to as the Rabid Hound and the Mad Dog, his is the younger of the Reed Brothers, but a powerful warrior in his own right. He is a Hero class and like Lloyd it depends on how powerful your lords are when you fight him.
Linus is a hot-head, the exact opposite of his brother, but also willing to undertake any instruction given by Brendan Reed. He admires Lloyd to an obsessive point and also cares for Nino, finding hard to believe that she's the daughter of Sonia, whom he loathes since he and Lloyd suspect heavily of her true intentions.
  • Ursula
The beautiful Ursula is referred to as the Blue Crow, and is a powerful Valkryie. You inevitably fight her in Chapter 26 (Eliwood's story)/Chapter 28 (Hector's story). After discovering Jaffar's disobediance, she attempts to kill him and Nino, but is stopped by Eliwood's group. If you fail to kill her during the chapter, Limstella will kill her and drain her quintessence. It seems that she's also more devious than she lets other see, since in prior episodes she gives the Hammerne staff to the members of Eliwood's group since she's jealous of the newly-arrived Vaida and doesn't want her to take away her glory.
  • Jaffar
Jaffar's nickname is the Angel of Death, and an assassin class (he is also the only recruitable member of the Four Fangs). Orphaned as a child, Jaffar was raised by Nergal to be a killing machine; however he began to change after Nino nursed him back to health, after being seriously injured during a mission. After he's given orders to kill Nino by her adoptive mother Sonia, he betrays the Fang and eventually joins Eliwood's group with Nino, whom he falls in love with (he can even be the father of her twin children, if he has an A support with Nino herself). Jaffar was also responsible for killing an Ostian spy named Leila, who was close to another Ostian spy, Matthew; he forces Jaffar to fight him by saying that he's taken Nino as a hostage, but in the last moment Matthew hesitates and decides to let Jaffar go, realizing that Leila would've not wanted that to happen.

Unlockables

  • A Sound room (listen to game's music) is unlocked after completing Lyn's story (the tutorial.)
  • A Battle History is unlocked after completing Eliwood's story.
  • Supports is unlocked after completeing Eliwood's story.
  • Hector's story is unlocked after completing Eliwood's story.
  • Eliwood's story hard mode is unlocked after completing Eliwood's story.
  • Lyn's story hard mode is unlocked after completing Eliwood's story.

  • A special ending is unlocked if all 'Kishuna' Chapters are completed, resulting in a clearer knowledge of Nergal's motives and past history as well as a CG of Nergal and his wife at the very end.

Support Conversations

Support Conversations are very important. If the player keeps certain players near one another eventually they will converse in what is known as 'Support Conversations'. Also, after they have spoken, if the player keeps those characters near each other when they fight, their critical attack goes up.

If you get your main character (Eliwood/Hector) to Level A support with certain characters (E/H:Lyn, E:Fiora or Ninian H:Florina or Farina) the ending will change. This isn't exclusive to the lords, also: other characters can also have different endings if they reach the A support with others (i.e: Mage/Sage Erk: Troubadour/Valkyrie Priscilla, Cleric/Bishop Serra, Mage/Sage Nino.)

Trivia

  • This game's memory size is twice as large as that of the 6th FE game, at a total of 128 Megabits (16 Megabytes.)
  • If you let Pent die, his wife Louise leaves the party. If you let Louise die, Pent leaves the party.
  • This game actually takes place before Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi (Sword of Seals) but was released afterwards, hence a prequel.
