Hogsmeade
From Free net encyclopedia
Hogsmeade is a fictional settlement in Scotland that appears in the Harry Potter novels. Hogsmeade is the only pure wizarding settlement in the United Kingdom and is located south of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Third year students and older are permitted to visit the village, as long as they have a signed permission slip from their parent or guardian.
Hogsmeade remained unseen in the films, except for the short sequences where the train arrives at the Hogsmeade station and at the end when Harry leaves from the station in the first movie, until the release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004.
A map of Hogsmeade can be found at the Harry Potter Lexicon site.

The Three Broomsticks
The Three Broomsticks is one of the local pubs in Hogsmeade. It is well known for its delicious "butterbeers" and the beautiful landlady Madam Rosmerta. She lives above the first floor. Ron has a crush on Madam Rosmerta, but denies it. it is also a well known pub for the hogwarts students who can usually be found in it relaxing after the stress of school or tests.
Zonko's Joke Shop
Zonko's has jokes that could "fulfill even Fred and George's wildest dreams." It was closed in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince; possible reasons include Voldemort's rise to power or competition from Fred and George's new shop in London. The twins planned to buy the shop before Hogwarts' students were banned from visiting Hogsmeade.
The Hogsmeade Station
Image:Hogwarts Express.jpg This is where the Hogwarts Express arrives after travelling from King's Cross. Scenes involving Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films were shot at the station on the North York Moors Railway, built in 1865 and virtually unchanged, that serves the village of Goathland in the North Yorkshire Moors.
The Hog's Head
The Hog's Head is another pub, which attracts more unusual customers than the Three Broomsticks. It was here that Sibyll Trelawney revealed the prophecy connecting Voldemort and Harry, during an interview with Albus Dumbledore for the position of Divination teacher. It is also the home of Aberforth Dumbledore, the bartender. It is described as being filthy, with several layers of grime on the floor and dust on the butterbeer and have the odour of goats in the air. It was where Hagrid the gamekeeper won a dragon egg in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Hogwarts students are allowed in, despite the pubs reputation. It also has lodging in the upper floors. The first meeting of Dumbledore's Army was held here.

Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop
Hermione Granger bought a black-and-gold pheasant-feather quill here.
Gladrags Wizardwear
Gladrags Wizardwear sells clothes. There are other shops in London and Paris. Harry, Ron and Hermione bought Dobby socks here.
Madam Puddifoot's
For an unknown reason, Madam Puddifoot's teashop attracts couples. Harry and Cho went to Madam Puddifoot's on their first (and last) date. The Valentine's Day decorations in Madam Puddifoot's reminded Harry of Professor Umbridge's office.
Honeydukes Sweetshop
Honeydukes sells wizard candies and treats of all descriptions, including Chocolate Frogs, Licorice Wands, and Cockroach Clusters. The owners live above the shop, and there is a secret passage connecting the basement of the shop and the statue of a humpbacked witch on the third floor of Hogwarts, which Harry Potter uses to illegally enter Hogsmeade in the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The Shrieking Shack
- Main article located at Shrieking Shack.
This house is supposed to be the most severely haunted building in Britain. The Hogwarts ghosts avoid this place. Fred and George Weasley tried to get in, of course, but failed. When James Potter and his friends were in school, Remus Lupin used this house during his monthly transformations to stay isolated from the students, being brought there every month by Madam Pomfrey. Dumbledore encouraged the theory that there were ghosts causing the commotion.es:Hogsmeade fr:Pré-au-Lard it:Hogsmeade he:קטגוריה:הארי פוטר - אתרים nl:Zweinsveld ja:ホグズミード村 pl:Hogsmeade pt:Hogsmeade sv:Hogsmeade
