Jorge Montt

Jorge Montt Álvarez (April 26, 1847 - October 8, 1922) was vice-admiral of the Chilean navy and president of Chile from 1891 to 1896. Born in Casablanca, he led a civil war against President José Manuel Balmaceda to become provisional leader and eventually president. He was a relative of previous Chilean president Manuel Montt, and future president Pedro Montt. He died in Santiago in 1922.
