Kenneth O'Keefe

Image:Ken okeefe.jpg Kenneth Nichols O'Keefe (July 21 1969 - ) born Kenneth Roy Nichols (he legally took the surname of his wife, Ruth O'Keefe) is a former U.S. Marine who served in the 1991 Gulf War. He is a peace and justice activist known mainly for organising an international group of volunteers to go to Baghdad in January of 2003, to act as human shields, known as the human shield action to Iraq, in the hope that this would avert the 2003 invasion of Iraq. O'Keefe burned his U.S. passport, replacing it with a 'World Citizen' passport, and proclaiming him a "Citizen of the World." He was detained in three countries when attempting to use this passport but has used it successfully in others. O'Keefe has also been jailed in Israel after trying to sneak into the Gaza Strip.

O'Keefe is attempting to organise the P10K Force, a group of 10,000 Westerners to act as international observers in the Palestinian territories and help bring peace with Israel.
