Character biogaphy
Ulysses Klaw is a scientist and a villain who has frequently challenged the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. He is an arch enemy of the Black Panther. He has also been a key player in the Secret Wars storylines. He is a being composed of psionically charged "hard sound".
Ulysses Klaw was once an ordinary human scientist who found the hidden African nation of Wakanda, which was ruled by the bearer of the hereditary mantle of the Black Panther. Klaw convinced T'Chaka, the Black Panther, to give him some of the rare vibranium, a valuable sound-manipulating mineral found only in Wakanda. He then used the mineral to build a sound-generating weapon and turned it on T'Chaka, killing him. T'Chaka's son T'Challa, angered, turned Klaw's weapon back on him, obliterating the villain's hand. Klaw fled, and the young T'Challa inherited the roles of the Black Panther and King of Wakanda.
Years later, Klaw resurfaced, and battled the Black Panther and the Fantastic Four. Although he was believed dead after this encounter, he actually survived, and used his technology to transform himself into a being of living sound. He has battled the Black Panther and Fantastic Four, among others, countless times since, occasionally serving as a member of the Masters of Evil and the Frightful Four. Songbird's sound harness operates using the same technology as Klaw, and he is able to absorb her energy.
Powers and abilities
Klaw is a being composed of psionically "solidified" sound.
As a being of pure sound, Klaw is resilient and his body malleable, and can be reconstructed if discorporated. Klaw can project powerful sound blasts that are powerful enough to shatter steel.
The solidified sound generator that replaces Klaw's right hand can project solid sound forms, which can accomplish various tasks, most often dealing blows with waves of solid sound.
Ulysses Klaw is a bona fide scientific genius.
