London Borough of Lewisham

Unlike most English districts, its council is led by a directly-elected mayor, currently Steve Bullock.

1978 Council
The council was increased to 67 seats in boundary changes. This council is the only one yet elected that has ever had a non-Labour majority. 1964 Council
The election of this council constituted the practical creation of the London Borough of Lewisham. Though it was elected in 1964, it did not take over administration of services until a year later.
