Marc Riley

Marc "Lard" Riley is a musician, alternative rock critic and DJ on BBC 6 Music where he presents Rocket Science on Saturday afternoons and Mint on Sunday evenings. Riley is best known as one half of the duo Mark and Lard with fellow DJ Mark Radcliffe, who presented the late evening show on BBC Radio 1 before moving on to the breakfast show in the mid 1990s, before moving on to the 1pm to 3pm slot.

The duo released two comedy/parody albums under the guise of The Shirehorses and opened the Glastonbury Festival in 1997.

Riley was a member of The Fall from 1978 to 1983, originally as a roadie, then playing bass guitar, and then later lead guitar, and also released the following albums in the 1980s with his band The Creepers: Gross, Fancy Meeting God! Live Warts and All, Miserable Sinners and Rock and Roll Liquorice Flavour.
