Mel Giedroyc

Image:Mel giedroyc.jpg Mel Clare Sophie Giedroyc (born June 5, 1968) is a Roman Catholic British television presenter, actress, and writer. Giedroyc is best known for presenting comedy items alongside Sue Perkins. As Mel and Sue the duo were short listed for the Daily Express Best Newcomers Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1993. After a few years writing for French & Saunders they hosted a lunchtime show on Channel 4 called Light Lunch, and an early evening version, Late Lunch.

The two met whilst students at Cambridge, Mel being a student of Trinity College, and were both members of the famous comedy club Footlights.

Giedroyc has also been a presenter on Channel 4's RI:SE. She narrated Celebrity Driving School in 2003. Her latest venture was as a contestant on the 2005 series of The Games and co-starred in the 2005 BBC 1 sitcom Blessed. She also co-presented Richard Hammond's 5 O'Clock Show on ITV1.

Her book, From Here to Maternity, is the diary based on her first pregnancy.

Personal Life

Giedroyc was born in Epsom in Surrey. She is a Roman Catholic, and has [[Belgium| Belgian ancestry.

She is married with two children. Her sister, Coky Giedroyc, is a TV director.
