Midnight Club: Street Racing

Template:Main article Midnight Club: Street Racing is a racing simulation along the lines of The Fast and the Furious movies (see: Import Scene). The player starts off with a relatively plain and slow car and through a series of races (each with different goals) they defeat other racers and win their faster and better looking cars. Players race through New York City and London England.

The game suffered from a number of bugs and glitches in terms of its object modeling and graphics, but it was to be expected for a launch title for the PlayStation 2 platform. The game featured a "Capture the Flag" mode (for both single- and multi-player) that often received high marks.

Midnight Club II

Template:Main article Midnight Club II is the follow up game, published for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. Players race through cities inspired by Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo, respectively. Midnight Club II features an online component.

Dry hilly suburbs and congested interstates can be found throughout Los Angeles, and just like the previous Midnight Club game, the city is littered with landmarks, such as the Hollywood Sign, the Capitol Records Tower, and the Los Angeles River. The same goes for Paris, home to cobblestone alleyways and monumental roundabouts, and feautres the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Tokyo is a city of neon-glittering avenues and tight alleyways, and in return contains Tokyo City Hall, Tokyo Tower, and Asakusa Kannon Temple.

The vehicles in Midnight Club II all resemble real world vehicles, such as the Jersey XS, which resembles a Dodge Viper, the Victory, which resembles an Aston Martin Vanquish, and the Veloci, which resembles a Saleen S7. The actual Saleen S7 was used in Midnight Club 3 as a real car.

This installment of the series was heavily criticised for using many derogatory stereotypes for the racers in the game that were almost to the point of being borderline racist. Another problem surrounding the game was that there were many cheat codes that were also usuable in online gameplay, hindering the balance and fairness of gameplay. The last problems is that the game did not offer customization since it's already modified.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition

Template:Main article Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is the third in the series, which puts emphasis on customization. This time players race through San Diego, Atlanta, and Detroit. This version is partnered with DUB Magazine and features real licensed vehicles.

The reasons behind fictional cars being used in Midnight Club and Midnight Club 2 was at the time of those games release, not many car manufacturers wanted to be associated with illegal street racing as well as Rockstar wanting realistic car damage to be seen when racing in the game. With the success of the movie The Fast And The Furious, car manufacturers decided to license their cars for use in video games such as the Need For Speed: Underground series. However, some car manufacturers still refuse to appear in video games due to the legalities surrounding the reasons listed above.

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix

Template:Main article Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix is a remixed version of Rockstar's street racing phenomenon for the game's Greatest Hits release. Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix features all the cities, cars and music from Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition while adding entirely new content with 24 new vehicles, a new city Tokyo, (Which is actually Tokyo's map previously used in Midnight Club 2) new licensed music, new races and battle maps. This version of the game allows the player to use the data on their memory card from the first version of Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition. Although the problems still remain in the game, like it can only hold up to 30 vehicles (which everyone needs no limits to have more vehicles to hold) and the glitches are still here, like when you access to the "Manage Vehicles", notice when you go left or right to choose your selected vehicle. All the car names gets separated like the Chevrolet '68 GTO, Mercedes-Benz Gallardo, Dodge S7, Scion Jetta, etc. But that was a glitch since the first version.
