Pepsi Twist

Image:Pepsi Twist can.jpg Pepsi Twist was introduced to the market in the summer of 2001. It was a response to the release of lemon-flavored versions of Coca-Cola and Diet Coke. Pepsi had previously produced a lemon-flavored diet cola (Pepsi Light). The product was advertised during Super Bowl 2003, with Ozzy, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne appearing in the commercial, along with Florence Henderson and Donny and Marie Osmond.

It was also endorsed by pop singer Britney Spears in 2002 and 2003 as part of her contract with the company; it also appeared in a promotion with Austin Powers in Goldmember.

Also marketed in Romania under the name Pepsi Twist recently changed to Pepsi Twist Lemon.

The product, not seen as a commercial success by Pepsi, was criticized for having a taste reminiscent of lemon scented cleaning products due to the poor replication of the flavor. The company even indirectly admited to the poor taste by later marketing that the soda's flavor had been improved. Sugar-free Diet Pepsi Twist, which sells much better than its "regular" counterpart and evokes memories of the 1980s beverage Pepsi Light to some consumers, is also available.

Pepsi Twist has been successfully marketed in Brazil (with lime instead of lemon), where a limited-edition version is also sold, the Pepsi Twistão, with an even stronger lime flavor.
