Protvino

Protvino (Template:Lang-ru) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia about 70 km south of Moscow, on the Protva River. Population: 36,175 (2002 Census). The town was formed around the RAS Institute for High Energy Physics, created in 1965. It is known for the particle accelerator U-70 which was the largest in the world at the time it was launched in 1967, and other physics research.
