  • Reconciliation may be seen as part of a process of restoring a relationship gone awry, typically as the result of one party causing a rift.
  • In finance, reconciliation is the process of balancing and updating accounting figures so that they reflect the most current, accurate amounts available.
  • In Accounting, reconciliation relates to the processing of matching figures from different areas which logically should align. An example would be that of matching invoices paid against monies banked, in accounting this 'matching' is called reconciling. The most important reconciliation performed in the accounting process is generally that of the Bank reconciliation.
  • Yom Kippur is a Jewish holiday, considered by Jews to be the holiest and most solemn day of the year; its central theme is atonement and reconciliation.
  • Reconciliation was an attempt by Australia's Labor governments, from the 1980s to mid-1990s, to bring about improved relations between the country's Aboriginal people and the rest of the population.
