Shanghai International Circuit

Shanghai International Circuit (Template:Zh-stp) is a brand new motor racing venue, situated near Shanghai in China. It was the venue of the inaugural Formula One Chinese Grand Prix on 2004-09-26.
In common with many other new Formula One circuits, it was designed by Hermann Tilke. Contrary to popular belief, the resemblance of the track layout with the Chinese character shang (上), which means 'above' or 'ascend', was not intentional, but rather coincidental. One lap lasts 3.4 miles (5.5 kilometres).

From 2006 onwards, it will be the home of A1 Grand Prix and is the last race on the A1 2006 calendar
