String Quartet No. 4 (Beethoven)

From Free net encyclopedia

Ludwig van Beethoven's String Quartet No. 4 in C Minor was published in 1801 as Opus 18, No. 4, and was written between 1798 and 1800. It consists of four movements:

  1. Allegro ma non tanto
  2. Andante scherzoso quasi Allegretto
  3. Menuetto: Allegretto
  4. Allegro - Prestissimo

As noted in the program notes in the external link and elsewhere, it is thought that this quartet may be in part based upon earlier material.
