Tim Alexander

From Free net encyclopedia

Tim "Herb" Alexander (born April 10, 1965 in Cherry Point, North Carolina) is a drummer who has played in the rock band Primus, the experimental/indie group Laundry, the theatrical/experimental group Blue Man Group, and occasionally with the Las Vegas-based improvisational rock band Uberschall. His nickname comes from his fondness for herbal remedies.

Tim left Primus in 1996, only to rejoin in 2003 for the album Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People and recent tours.

Although originally inspired to become a rock drummer by John Bonham and Neil Peart, Primus guitarist Ler LaLonde claims Alexander's drum beats are mostly influenced by African Juju music.

Alexander was the first drummer of A Perfect Circle performing live with the band for very early shows and on the track "The Hollow" on the band's debut Mer de Noms. He is listed as a member in the band's DVD/CD release aMOTION.

Tim is the only member of Primus who's previous musical backround is not known. There are rumors he was somehow involved in the Bay Area thrash scene like Claypool and LaLonde.
