Timothy Lockwood Armstrong (born November 25, 1966) is an American punk rock musician. Most known for his work in the punk scene (Rancid, Operation Ivy and Transplants.) and his Record label Hellcat Records. Tim has also worked with artists like Pink, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Osbourne.

Biography
Early years
Tim was born in Oakland, November 25 in 1966, son to an alcoholic father, hardworking mother and the youngest of three brothers.
Eighties and Nineties
He was in the punk/ska band Operation Ivy from their beginning in 1987 under the nickname "Lint McFlint". Operation Ivy continued until its demise in 1989. He then founded two relatively unsuccessful bands called the Dance Hall Crashers and Downfall but later went on to greater fame with the very successful Rancid, founded in 1991. For a long time, Tim was very active in the Berkeley scene that grew up around 924 Gilman Street. He showcased his other artistic talents and created artwork for the INSAINTS logo. In 1997 Tim married Brody Dalle of The Distillers.
The 00's
In 1999 Tim, Rob Aston ("Skinhead Rob") and Travis Barker (of Blink-182 fame) formed the band Transplants and released their self-titled debut album, Transplants on October 22, 2002. A second album, Haunted Cities, was released on June 21, 2005. The band's future was confirmed by Rob Aston on January 16, 2006, when he told a reporter that the band had split [1]. Tim co-wrote 8 songs with Pink for her 2003 album Try This, he has also collaborated with Gwen Stefani on her debut album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. and his Rancid bandmate Lars Frederiksen's side project, Lars Frederiksen and The Bastards. In 2003 Tim and Brody divorced, later that year Rancid released their sixth album Indestructible.
Rumors
- In late 2005, it was rumored that Armstrong would participate in the Clash's reunion as the replacement of their longtime frontman and vocalist Joe Strummer, who died on December 22, 2002. This rumor has been proven false.
- When Brody and Tim divorced in 2003 Tim accused Dalle's current fiancee, Joshua Homme (Queens of the Stoneage), of stealing her from him. After Josh attempted to slam Tim, he received a series of death threats from Armstrong fans.
- Tim's distinctive vocals are belived to be an end result of his past drug/alcohol abuse.
Trivia
- Founder of Hellcat Records.
- Tim has overdosed twice in his younger years, but fully recovered in both instances.
- Tim has never had a drivers' licence (due to dyslexia) or a bank account.
- Tim is also a renowned producer and has worked with artists such as Pink and Kelly Osbourne.
- Tim is left handed.
- Tim Armstrong is not related to Billie Joe Armstrong of the band Green Day, even though it has been said that they get along very well. On a side note, Billie Joe co-wrote 'Radio', and was the second guitarist during the first stages of recording Let's Go.
- Tim Armstrong can often be seen hanging out in Echo Park.
- Also has vocals on the song "Cat Like Thief" by the band Box Car Racer
- Armstrong appeared on the Bad Religion song Television.
