Void can refer to:
- Aether as the source of all elements, the quintessence.
- Aether as the firmament of the sky or heavens.
- The absence of matter, a vacuum.
- In astronomy, a void (astronomy) is a very large region of space with containing few, or no, galaxies.
- A noticeably empty space, such as a defect like a bubble in a (generally solid) material.
- Nothing, Null, Nil, Zip, Nada
- in bridge and other trick-taking card games, a "void" describes a holding of zero cards in a particular suit.
- To cause to be invalid (i.e. to void a check).
- To urinate or defecate.
- In computer science:
- void is a keyword indicating the absence of type information in Java, C, [[C++]], and C#.
- void is the name of the bottom type in the Eiffel programming language
- Often used as the title of the fifth Scroll in Miyamoto Musashi's The Book of Five Rings (better translations are "Nothingness" or "Emptiness"). Musashi defines this Void as "the realm where nothing exists, or cannot be known," and notes that "wrongly viewed among people of the world, not understanding anything is itself considered void. This is not real void; it is all a delusion."
- In the Legend of the Five Rings Role-Playing Game, Void is a measure of a character's inner strength and enlightenment.
- VOID (Video Overview In Deceleration) is a DVD by the Flaming Lips containing a library of 18 of their music videos.
- In video games:
- The main enemy in Sonic Shuffle, a Sega Dreamcast game starring Sonic the Hedgehog.
- A fictional location in the video game series, Mortal Kombat.
- Void (band), a Washington, D.C.-based hardcore punk band on the Dischord label.
