Wikipedia:Requested pictures

This page is a forum for requesting images from other Wikipedians for Wikipedia articles.

Using this page
Use this page to post requests for images that you would like to be used on a Wikipedia article. Others can then upload the image(s). For comments on policies, other users, technology, and other miscellaneous concerns that are not directly related to posting images, use the Wikipedia:Village Pump.

Copyright Warning
Wikipedia can accept only photographs and pictures that are licensed compatibly with the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) or are in the public domain. A complete guideline of what is acceptable can be found at Wikipedia:Image use policy.
- The simplest way to ensure that is to make them ourselves and explicitly release them under the GFDL by adding Template:Tl to the image description page
- It is also possible to put your own pictures in the public domain by adding 'Template:Tl to the image page
- Other copyright options and tags can be found at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags.
- If you're asking someone else for permission to use their image under the GFDL license, see Request for Permission
Posting a request
Before posting, please do the following steps:
- First try to find an image on your own. For tips, see the Wikipedia:Finding images tutorial
- Avoid blanket requests, as, for example "need pictures for all people in the Lists of people".
- Request images only for existing articles, i.e. if there is no article, then please write an article first before requesting.
- Add the request here if you could not find a picture. Select an appropriate subcategory or add a proper category or subcategory in the alphabetical list. Note that there are separate areas below for photographs and graphics/diagrams. Please copy your request in the edit summary so that recent requests can easily be seen on the page history.
- Link to the article for which you would like to have the picture added, and describe what kind of picture you need. Signing the request is optional.
- Add only one picture request per bullet.
You may also wish to add the image request template, Template:Tl to the article's talk page, which would then list the article in Category:Wikipedia requested images.
If you need someone to take this photo for you, maybe one of them can do it in meta:Press_Corps by location. You might also ask an appropriate photographer or graphic artist. Many are willing to take requests.
Fulfilling a request
If you want to contribute an image you have taken yourself, either on film or with a digital camera, please make sure it looks optimal. Consider using graphics software such as the GIMP to enhance saturation, contrast, and sharpness (sample tutorial). You do not need to provide a thumbnail image. Please see Wikipedia:Image use policy for more advice on working with images. You can also contribute pictures not taken by you if they are available under a public domain or GFDL license. Other requested images can also be found by viewing Category:Wikipedia requested images, a page with Template:Reqimage, or by viewing Image:No_image_yet, and add images to articles that link to these pages.
- Ensure that the picture is properly licensed as shown in the "Copyright Warning" above
- Upload the Image. If the license so permits, please upload the image to Wikimedia Commons[1] instead so that all the different Wikipedias can use the image.
- Add the proper Image copyright tags and a description to the image description page
- Link the image to the corresponding article. Larger images should be linked as thumbnails. For a good tutorial see Wikipedia:Picture tutorial
- After you add the requested image, remove the request from this page, and the {{Reqimage}} tag from the article.
- You can also add your contribution to Wikipedia:Fulfilled picture requests or list it at Wikipedia:List of images.

- Self-parody In my opinion, an artist's parody of his or her own work would be better than a self-portrait in caricature style. JerryFriedman 21:49, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- I couldn't really find a good example of an artist parodying their own work exactly, so instead I added an image of Duchamp's Fountain, a parody by an artist of art itself. I hope it's found appropriate.--Pharos 01:34, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- [Fountain] was never meant to be a parody or art (read the wikipedia page on it). This does not meet the definition of parody, much less self-parody.
- I enjoyed seeing the picture there, but maybe it's time for something that's more exactly relevant. —JerryFriedman 18:28, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

- Howard Finster We must have some Wikipedian who's been to Paradise Gardens and has some cool-looking photos, right? Philthecow 03:48, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- Irony has a bit of a problem. It's had a couple of different images, none of them satisfactory, and the one we seem to be stuck with now is a propaganda photo of Hitler with a little girl, which some people find "ironic". There's a fairly general agreement on the talk page that we'd like to have a depiction of classical irony, but nobody seems to have one available. We would love to see a picture of Socrates talking to Meno, or to whomever, or a picture of Marc Antony giving the "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" speech, for example. Any scene involving classical irony would be great. Thank you. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:30, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- Here's a nice irony image, if rights could be secured. As an added bonus, the caption is a pun.--ragesoss 02:35, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- I found one in my photo album that might work, so I uploaded it: Image:Tate_Modern_irony.jpg.--ragesoss 03:20, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Anatomy
I would like to get something like Image:Vulvabigopen2(english).jpg. Other versions of this image have been already deleted due to copyright violation, it's just a question of time, when this one also disappears. The picture was used on many wikis and there is no equivalent image we could use right now. It should depict: clitoral hood, glans clitoris, labia majora, labia minora, opening of the urethra, opening of vagina and remaining hymen. Thank you very much. I understand how difficult it will be to get it. Miraceti 15:14, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

- Current Apple hardware: mostly filled now, at present only a closed MacBook Pro and its MagSafe power adaptor are still fair use.
- We won't get our hands on PD images for the Intel stuff until Febuary. I still think it's better to use the official most up-to-date Apple ones, but our current more free alternative actually isn't that bad. I'd like it on, though.--HereToHelp (talk) 19:45, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
- Updated the original request above, though I'm still looking for a few particular older models: Beige Power Macintosh G3 AIO, Power Mac G4 Graphite (the image we have is only a mock-up) and a Performa/LC of the 5x0 series would pretty much complete the collection. -- grm_wnr Esc 15:41, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- Commodore 1570 could use an image of this old external Commodore floppy drive. Surely someone must have an old one lying around somewhere they could take a GFDL (or whatever) photo of. Commons seems to only have a couple of the 1541 model. --Sherool (talk) 17:23, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

- rayon Some super-close-up photos or maybe even diagrams showing the weave and texture would be great.

- Stapler This page could use a shot of a saddle stapler (maybe shots of both manual and electric versions). Saddle staplers are used for stapling brochures, putting the staple in the center of a piece of paper. A long-reach stapler would also be nice.

- There are missing illustrations in the Timeline of CGI in films. We need captures from a number of films that pioneered various uses of CGI. The captures should actually depict the CGI examples.
