History
WAOW is Wausaw's second television station, having signed on the air in 1965, serving as a satellite station of WKOW/Madison, Wisconsin as part of the Wisconsin Television Network, which would later include WXOW/La Crosse and WQOW/Eau Claire. By the 1980s the station would gradually start focusing more on the Wausaw/Rhinelander market by adding local programming and content.
In 1997, WAOW opened a satellite of its own, WYOW, to expand its coverage area in northeastern Wisconsin and parts of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Starting in September 2006 its DT2 subcarrier will add programming from The CW Television Network. Cable viewers will also see CW programming on cable 15, where WBWA is located now.
