A Woman Under the Influence is a 1974 film in which a young wife and mother's erratic behavior leads her husband to commit her for psychiatric treatment, leaving the family even more dysfunctional than before. It stars Peter Falk, Gena Rowlands, Fred Draper, Lady Rowlands, Katherine Cassavetes, Matthew Laborteaux, Matthew Cassel and Christina Grisanti.
The movie was written and directed by John Cassavetes.
It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Gena Rowlands) and Best Director. The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
